ABOUT US
How it all began -
DENIS
began his mechanical apprenticeship with Leyland in Ales, France.
On obtaining his “ticket” he joined a workshop in his home town that
catered mainly to the French marque. By the time Denis was 18
years old, his employer had enough confidence in his ability to leave
him in charge of the workshop and spare parts.
In 1972 Denis and his young family left France on one
of the last Government Sponsored Immigration schemes. Soon
after arriving in Brisbane, Denis began working for Maxim Motors (a
Peugeot and Citroen Dealership) where his mechanical knowledge quickly
gained him a good reputation. It wasn’t long however before Denis
gained enough confidence to set up his own mechanical repair business in
South Brisbane.
In 1980 Denis took a break from
fixing cars. It wasn’t long though before he again set up another
workshop, first in Shafston Avenue; then Longlands Street (where French
Car Care really began) before finally settling into Buranda in 1984.
Ten years later, French Car Care made another move back to East
Brisbane.
Denis, who was always interested
in motor racing, started his personal involvement in about 1988.

RICHARD
immigrated to Australia from Kuala Lumpur in 1970 as a
youngster and attended high school in Sydney.
In 1978 he
began working for a Renault Peugeot Dealership in Tamworth
where he remained for 11 years. He arrived in Brisbane
in 1989 with his wife and four children and began working
for French Car Care in August that year.
Richard’s
11 years with a dealership has enabled him to become very
knowledgeable which he enhances by keeping up with all the
latest information on late model vehicles.
MARY met
Denis in 1982 and helped him set up French Car Care.
For the first few months Mary looked after the sale and
purchase of spare parts, office and workshop administration
as well as coping with a very active youngster.
These days Mary spends most of
her time on administration, helping out with spare parts
when necessary and, of course, while Richard is on holiday.
